Since a few months a not so new computer virus is targeting computer's security fault.
Not so new virus as it has been on the Internet for quite a while all over the world in different versions.

Basically this virus install itself using software security breach (especially Windows Vista but other Operating Systems as well) without your consent or knowledge. Once installed, it may be dormant for a while, but when activated on a reason or another, it will display pop up ads and open Internet Explorer every few minutes. Also it might run fake scans on your PC showing fake virus infections to scare you. At the end of its fake scan it will offer you to purchase phantom software supposed to remove the imaginary threat.

Obviously do not buy; it won't remove anything at all apart from the money on your account. As long as this virus is on your machine, it will try and take control of all your applications, displaying fake warnings and prevent you to use them. It will also generate Windows warning messages.

So you should remove this scare ware as soon as possible. But, this virus is clever! Once installed it will prevent any attempt made to install anti-virus, online scans or manual removal. Luckily there are, most the time, a solution to remove it, but you should let professionals do their job to ensure you do not lose your data unnecessarily.
